{"id":12146,"date":"2026-07-22T08:45:00","date_gmt":"2026-07-22T08:45:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/veilles-affaires-sociales.fr\/?p=12146"},"modified":"2026-07-22T08:45:00","modified_gmt":"2026-07-22T08:45:00","slug":"effects-of-exposure-to-active-minds-send-silence-packing-exhibit-on-college-students-mental-health-help-seeking-intentions","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/veilles-affaires-sociales.fr\/?p=12146","title":{"rendered":"Effects of Exposure to Active Minds\u2019 Send Silence Packing Exhibit on College Students\u2019 Mental Health Help-Seeking Intentions"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"abstract product-page-abstract\">\n<div class=\"abstract-first-letter\">\n<h2>Objective<\/h2>\n<p>This study examined effects of exposure to a campus mental health promotion exhibit (Send Silence Packing\u00ae; SSP) on changes in college students\u2019 help-seeking intentions.<\/p>\n<h2>Participants<\/h2>\n<p>College students (n\u2009=\u2009576) from six campuses completed online surveys (baseline, 1-month, 6-month follow-up) assessing exposure to their campus\u2019 SSP exhibit (fall, 2022) and mental health help-seeking intentions, psychological distress, and service utilization.<\/p>\n<h2>Methods<\/h2>\n<p>Fixed effects regression models examined associations between exposure to SSP (any vs. no) and changes in help-seeking intentions.<\/p>\n<h2>Results<\/h2>\n<p>Relative to baseline, SSP exposure was associated with increases in intentions to seek help from informal sources (friend; family) at 1-month (B\u2009=\u20090.22, SE\u2009=\u20090.08, p\u2009=\u20090.006) and 6-month follow-up (B\u2009=\u20090.20, SE\u2009=\u20090.08, p\u2009=\u20090.01) but not from a mental health professional.<\/p>\n<h2>Conclusions<\/h2>\n<p>Peer-informed campus mental health promotion exhibits may increase students\u2019 intentions to leverage informal sources of support when experiencing a mental health challenge.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"full-bg-sand full-bg-bottom\">\n<div id=\"indicia\" class=\"sans small\">\n<p>This publication is part of the RAND external publication series.
