On the 23 June, the EMPL Committee held a public hearing to discuss the challenges facing social security and pension systems across the European Union and potential policy responses at both national and EU level.
Against the backdrop of an ageing population, longer life expectancy and lower fertility rates, as well as evolving labour market trends such as fragmented careers, platform work and persistent gender inequalities, Members, experts, social partners and stakeholders will explore ways to ensure adequate, fair and sustainable pensions for current and future generations.
