Exchange of views on the 2026 Employment Guidelines
On 15 July, the EMPL Committee discussed the Commission’s proposal for the 2026 Guidelines for the Employment and Social Policies of the Member States. Following a presentation by the European Commission, Members exchanged views with the Rapporteur, Li Andersson, and the shadow rapporteurs.
As the Employment Guidelines steer the European Semester and shape future country-specific recommendations, this year’s discussion is particularly significant in view of the preparation of the 2028-2034 EU budget and the National and Regional Partnership Plans.
